RELIEF 'CRUCIFIXION OF PETRUS' Italy, 16th century Wood, relief, stained dark, frame with green velvet (R. 77 x 48, D. 9 cm). Relief h. 60, w. 32. Relief sculpture depicting the crucifixion of Peter. According to the biblical scriptures, Peter asked not to be crucified in the same way as Jesus because he felt unworthy to suffer the same death as his Lord. He was therefore crucified upside down. Part. dam. and damaged, anobia infestation.
